Good quotes from date:
At the end of "Annie Hall" Woody Allen narrates:
'After that it got pretty late, and we both had to go, but it was great seeing Annie again. I... I realized what a terrific person she was, and... and how much fun it was just knowing her; and I... I, I thought of that old joke, y'know, the, this... this guy goes to a psychiatrist and says, "Doc, uh, my brother's crazy; he thinks he's a chicken." And, uh, the doctor says, "Well, why don't you turn him in?" The guy says, "I would, but I need the eggs." Well, I guess that's pretty much now how I feel about relationships; y'know, they're totally irrational, and crazy, and absurd, and... but, uh, I guess we keep goin' through it because, uh, most of us... need the eggs.'
Me: "That's a great line."
Him: "Yeah it is."

Would you recommend to a friend? Yes, if she would like be a part of his 100 dates project
Comments:
Evan needed to fulfill his "Movie Date at Home" date and since I was already going to watch movies at my place that day I stepped up to the plate. We agreed that we both would write about our second date.
I have a ridiculously sized TV but no DVDs so I asked him to bring some. He arrived armed not only with a slew of rom-coms to choose from (we picked Annie Hall) but also with popcorn, dark chocolate and wine. Just for the record - those are three of my favorite things. He also rocked a mustache for Movember to raise money for prostate cancer.
This is where things get complicated for me. As a person who blogs anonymously and goes on dates with men who don't know I have a dating blog I am free to be my funny/awkward self on dates. Then I'm completely free to write about what happens on them. Knowing that my funny/awkward self is going to be written about on Evan's blog I sometimes catch myself censoring things I say and do - and so I wonder: Doesn't that ruin the whole point of MY dating project?
This reminds me of something I learned about in sociology class: The property of reflexivity, which occurs "when the observations or actions of observers in the social system affect the very situations they are observing..."
Is then, the purity of my and Evan's dates ruined rendering them inauthentic?
These are some of the "deep" thoughts that ran through my mind before my doorbell rang. But when we started to make out during the movie and when I let myself enjoy the moment for the moment itself - not analyzing and not over thinking - all became right in the world (my head).
We went out for tacos afterward. Overall, a pretty perfect Sunday afternoon.
And yes, I do need the eggs.
