I started going to NYC Rooftop Films eons ago (meaning I was under 30, ah those were the days, sigh). I watched films on the roof of a school in the East Village, the roof of an old canning factory in Gowanus, sometimes the screenings weren't even on a roof at all, but they were always outside on a lawn or a courtyard and the experiences represented everything that is summer: short, beautiful, innocent, fleeting, HOT.
This Saturday on a different rooftop in Brooklyn I will be taking a date to see some shorts (while wearing shorts) explore my most favorite topic - ROMANCE. If you're in NYC grab two tickets, Tinder-up a date, and sit next to me.
ROOFTOP FILMS PRESENTS:
FIRST COMES LOVE: ROMANTIC SHORT FILMS
Saturday 7/25 - On the roofs of Industry City - $15 online or at the door

Background:
Started 19 years ago by Mark Elijah Rosenberg and has since been taken over by Dan Nuxoll. Dan and Mark were seeing so many "romantic" films that they decided they would create a shorts program around the theme. Of course, the idea of romance was stretched beyond what one might traditionally associate with the word, and began to encompass all the various ideas and interpretations of what is romantic.
First Comes Love is the second of this years Romance programs (Love Comes Later was the first). The program is populated with films that have a sweeter take on the idea of romance (Love Comes Later was more twisted). The films come from all over the world (which speaks to the universally confusing and confounding nature of the beast). Some of the films are making their US premier at Rooftop, while others have previously played in the borough of Brooklyn, but resonate so much that we can't help but share them with our audience.
No matter who you are or what your past or present experience with love may be, you will certainly find something in this program that reminds you of the beauty and heartache of love.
